The San Bernardino Sheriff’s office was waiting for DNA results before announcing the charred body found in the cabin near Big Bear, Calif., was the fugitive ex-cop who was the target of Los Angeles’ biggest manhunt, law enforcement sources said. But sources from Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's office told NBC News the LAPD had confirmed to the mayor that the body found in the cabin was Dorner, who declared war on the police department in an online manifesto because he was fired in 2008.
